Vic: Leadership hopeful Doyle rules out revenge sackings

MELBOURNE, Aug 19 AAP - Victorian Liberal Party leadership hopeful Robert Doyle hashit back at claims he would embark on revenge sackings if elected tomorrow.

The former health spokesman said today there would be no massive changes to the shadowcabinet if he was elected to replace Denis Napthine.

Mr Doyle said the frontbench was a talented group of people that was badly led underDr Napthine.

"... there'll be no payback, there won't be massive changes," he told 3AW.

"Instead there will just be a refocused and reappointed team all working together."

Last minute lobbying for votes is expected to continue today, ahead of tomorrow's partyroom ballot.

Dr Napthine will hold a shadow cabinet meeting in Ballarat at 10.30am (AEST) todayfollowing the opening of the party's new campaign offices.

Deputy Leader Louise Asher, who has pledged her loyalty to Dr Napthine, is on holidaystoday but will attend tomorrow's meeting.

Reports over the weekend suggested Mr Doyle, who was sacked from the frontbench lastTuesday, would turn on Liberal MPs faithful to Dr Napthine.

The Bracks government can name an election date as early as November 30, with strongreports Victorians will be called to the polls at the earliest opportunity.
