Qld: Falling powerline causes paramedic to become patient
BRISBANE, Dec 27 AAP - A falling powerline today caused a working Gold Coast paramedicto reverse roles and become a patient.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the paramedic and his colleague had just puta patient into the back of their ambulance in the Gold Coast suburb of Labrador, whenthey saw the line begin to fall about 10am (AEST).
Both paramedics were forced to dive sideways to avoid the line, and one landed hardon his shoulder, suffering soft-tissue damage, the spokesman said.
"The paramedic himself then became a patient and had to be transported to hospital," he said.
The paramedic would be off work for two days while his shoulder healed.
The spokesman said the powerline, which did not touch either paramedic, was not live at the time.
"But they didn't know that."
