SALT LAKE CITY -- SALT LAKE CITY, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- HOTSPOTZZ, one of the nation's leading providers of Wi-Fi hotspots, today announced it is working with Intel Corporation to promote its service in conjunction with the forthcoming Intel(R) Centrino(TM) mobile technology for notebook PCs. HOTSPOTZZ has wireless-enabled locations in retail chains, independent cafes, hotels, business centers, restaurants and other public venues.
Intel's new Centrino mobile technology includes a new mobile processor, chipset and built-in Wi-Fi capability that have been designed to work together to enable Intel's best wireless notebook experience. This technology will be implemented in PC manufacturers' notebook computers and will be available in March. HOTSPOTZZ and Intel are working together to drive awareness of Wi-Fi (802.11) hotspots -- areas where notebook users can connect to the Internet and corporate networks wirelessly.
To enable a better wireless experience, the two companies are testing the HOTSPOTZZ network with Intel Centrino mobile technology to enable the highest levels of compatibility. Together, the companies are also collaborating on a new signage program that will inform users they are in a HOTSPOTZZ hotspot, one that has been tested and verified to work together with Intel Centrino mobile technology.
"The work between Intel and HOTSPOTZZ demonstrates a deep commitment to the industry to drive awareness and adoption of Wi-Fi," said Henry Smith, HOTSPOTZZ CEO. "Intel's Centrino mobile technology for notebook computers combined with HOTSPOTZZ's Wi-Fi service enables today's mobile user to take advantage of high-speed Internet access when they travel, keeping them more productive when away from the office."
"Intel is working with companies such as HOTSPOTZZ to establish hotspots that will enable travelers to have wireless access in public places, whether they are at a restaurant, hotel or cafe," said Anand Chandrasekher, vice president, Intel Mobile Platforms Group. "With Intel Centrino mobile technology and HOTSPOTZZ, mobile users can enjoy high-performance wireless computing with long battery life in a variety of public areas."
The Intel Centrino mobile technology brand represents Intel's best technology for mobile computing and is designed to deliver an unwired computing experience while enabling extended battery life, outstanding mobile performance and thinner and lighter form factors.
